Coastal Virginia Conservancy Announces New Executive Director

Norfolk, Virginia. June 4, 2024 — Helen KuhnsCoastal Virginia Conservancy (CVC) announces its new Executive Director, Helen W. Kuhns, who joined the organization May 13, 2024.

Kuhns brings over 30 years of environmental experience and 10 years of nonprofit management experience to CVC. Most recently, Ms. Kuhns served as the Assistant Director of Lynnhaven River NOW in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and previously was the Executive Director of Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation in Portsmouth, Virginia. With a strong foundation in community engagement and a keen understanding of the value of open space and natural areas, she is eager to increase conserved lands and restore more waterways for future generations.

The CVC Board of Trustees welcomes Kuhn’s leadership as the organization works to conserve even more natural spaces throughout Hampton Roads. “As only our second Executive Director, Helen brings vast experience as CVC grows its impactful regional reach,” said Mary Ann Saunders, CVC Board of Trustees Chair.

Coastal Virginia Conservancy, the region’s only land trust, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose 20-year missions are conserving land, restoring water quality, and fostering public access to open space and waterways throughout the region. To date, CVC has conserved 1,225 acres of land.
